Human

Requirements: None
Ability modifiers: +1 CHA, +1 CON
Languages: Common, Old Imperial

Humans are renowned for having deep passions that drive them through their short lives. Humans are an empathetic race of ingenious engineers and problem solvers, who put their time and skill into technological advancements that allow them to surpass the magic users around them. They have the potential to become great leaders, forging alliances between other races, but they are easily corrupted.

No human naturally has the ability to conjure magic. Although they are not completely without magic. Almost all humans have the capability to use Essence Magic, if they try to learn it.

Essence Magic

Humans have the ability (if practiced) to tap into their own life essences, and dissipate it outwards into another living thing. This may allow any living plant to heal and grow a larger abundance or higher quality crops. It may also be used to heal other living beings or animals, replenishing their health. There is always a chance that essence dissipation does not work.

Dissipating a Human’s essence does drain them temporarily of their own life force, making them weaker, and if done too much, can lead to signs of illness, insanity, or even death. Essence dissipation does not result in HP Damage, but instead lowers their Max HP temporarily. It can take weeks, or months for them to regain their essence and be back to normal, depending on age.

Blessed

When rolling hit points (including at 1st level), the player of a human PC may roll twice and take the best result.

Decisiveness

When an initiative roll is tied, humans act first, as if they had won initiative. If using the optional rule for individual initiative (see Combat, p234), humans get a bonus of +1 to initiative rolls.

Leadership

All of a human’s retainers and mercenaries gain a +1 bonus to loyalty and morale.
