Spells
Spell Scrolls
Spell scrolls are disposable Spells. They are encoded uniquely each time, so no two spell scrolls are exactly the same.
In order to use a Spell Scroll, it must first be deciphered by a Read Magic Spell, and then it can be activated at any time in the future.
A magic-user, or someone with Read Magic can explain to a non-magic user the instructions to activate the Scroll, and allow them to use it, although in most cases they will still have to make a proper check to activate it and have a higher chance of causing a mishap. If a non-magic user is being taught how to activate a scroll, they need to have and INT score of 5 + the Spell Level, or they cannot understand the instructions being taught to them.
Any Magic-User that already has a spell learned will not need to use Read Magic to decipher a Spell Scroll.
Spells Scrolls cannot be used to learn the spell, Deciphering the Spell Scroll only teaches you how to unlock its innate abilities.
During it’s use, the Spell Scroll is destroyed, making it One-Time use only.
Spell Books
Unlike Spell Scrolls, each Spell written in someone else’s Spell Book is unknown until each individual spell is deciphered with a Read Magic Spell.
Can be used to learn new spells (explained below.)
Learning a New Spell
A new Spell can be learned by deciphering another Spell Book with Read Magic and then take time to rewrite the spell in their own Spell book. The actual spell sequence varies from person to person, so the spell is written uniquely in your own spell book.
Spells can only be used by Magic-Users that can tap into that type of magic (e.g. Arcane, Divine, etc.)
Spells can also be taught to you by another Magic-user, if they take the time to decipher their spells for you to understand.
